Engineer, Entrepreneur Mike Berg Launches Campaign for District 8 House Seat

Berg: “There’s no question about it, North Dakota is the best place to live and raise a family.”

BISMARCK, N.D. – Mike Berg today announced his campaign for the ND House of Representatives in District 8. The newly redrawn district includes parts of western and southern Burleigh County outside of Bismarck, and all of Emmons County.

“I’m ready to put my business and leadership experience to work in the state legislature,” said Berg. “By focusing on education and skills training we can address our workforce shortage and strengthen the economy.”

As the son of a veterinarian and author, Mike learned the value of a hard day’s work and the importance of service to others while growing up in Hettinger. Berg earned a degree from North Dakota State University which ignited a successful engineering career.

Mike would lead growing private sector teams in Minneapolis and St. Louis before returning to Bismarck in 2007 with his wife, Wendy, to raise their young family.

“Early in my career we had the opportunity to live and work in Minneapolis and St. Louis,” said Berg. “There’s no question about it, North Dakota is the best place to live and raise a family.”

In 2010, Mike co-founded Apex Engineering Group. With a unique focus on practical solutions and customer service, the growing North Dakota-based firm has built a reputation as an engineering pioneer on water, transportation, and electrical projects.

Mike and Wendy live in rural Burleigh County with their two children, Eleanor and Charlie.
